
Arizona Lithium is moving swiftly on its Prairie Lithium Project in Saskatchewan after raising $4.25 million through an oversubscribed Share Purchase Plan and securing a crucial production permit.
Arizona Lithium Limited is gaining momentum at a critical moment for the North American battery materials sector. On Friday, the company confirmed it had closed its Share Purchase Plan (SPP), raising A$4.25 million—more than twice the original target—and received Phase 1 production approval for its Prairie Lithium Project from Saskatchewan regulators.
The Prairie Lithium Project now holds the distinction of being the first lithium brine operation in Saskatchewan to reach this milestone and one of the first in North America to be approved for commercial-scale Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE). These twin developments mark a significant step in the company’s ambition to become a key player in the continent’s lithium supply chain.

Investor Confidence Propels Development
The oversubscription of the SPP signals robust investor confidence despite continued headwinds in the global lithium market. According to Managing Director Paul Lloyd, both directors and management took up the maximum allowable allocations under the offering, signaling internal alignment and long-term commitment to the project’s development.
“With the SPP now closed, we are very excited to announce an oversubscription of over two times,” Lloyd said. “Even in a very difficult lithium market, we remain committed to project development.”
Proceeds from the raise will fund key engineering and procurement work at Pad #1, where a commercial-scale proof-of-concept DLE facility is under construction. Fabrication of the Li-Pro DLE unit, being built in partnership with Koch Engineered Solutions, is on schedule for October 2025 completion.
Phase 1 Approval Validates Saskatchewan’s Lithium Pathway
Arizona Lithium also announced it has secured regulatory clearance from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources, greenlighting Phase 1 operations. The permit allows the company to begin initial lithium carbonate production, projected at 150 tonnes per annum (TPA) of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). The production will be enabled by DLE technology designed to extract lithium directly from subsurface brines with minimal environmental impact.
“This regulatory approval marks a major inflection point in Saskatchewan’s lithium ambitions,” Lloyd noted. “The framework here provides a clear permitting path and genuine support for resource development.”
The milestone positions Prairie at the vanguard of Canada’s emerging lithium sector, which has gained increasing relevance as the U.S. and its allies seek secure, domestic sources of critical minerals.
Upgraded Resource Underscores Production Potential
The project’s momentum is further bolstered by recent resource upgrades following the 2024 drilling program. Arizona Lithium announced a 120% increase in annual producible volumes, now forecast at 17,000 TPA LCE. The Indicated Resource has grown to 4.6 million tonnes LCE, a figure that places Prairie among the more substantial lithium brine assets in North America.
Updated modeling of the project’s well network has helped define a clear path toward scaling output beyond Phase 1.
Positioned for a Critical Role in North America’s Lithium Supply Chain
The Prairie Lithium Project benefits from Saskatchewan’s resource-friendly regulatory environment, access to skilled labor, and proximity to transportation and utility infrastructure. Importantly, Arizona Lithium has also emphasized its commitment to environmental sustainability—both in its extraction technology and in efforts to reduce the project’s carbon footprint.
The timing of the project is strategic. As demand for lithium continues to outpace supply amid aggressive electric vehicle and battery deployment targets, Prairie could serve as a key supply node in the North American critical minerals ecosystem.
