One of Metso Outotec’s “Planet Positive” mineral processing orders is several energy-efficient stirred mills for installation at a new iron ore plant in Liaoning Province, north-eastern China. The stirred mill installation, which will generate 11 megawatts of electricity, is the world’s largest stirred mill array.
This order appears as a September quarter order received in the Minerals segment, although its value has not been provided.
Previously, the company had agreed to deliver a primary gyratory crusher PG4265TM and three-cone crushers HP900TM to the same project, states Christoph Hoetzel, Head of Metso Outotec’s Grinding business line. Still, the customer quickly realized the benefits of employing its stirred mill technology.
In the Chinese market, stirred milling has demonstrated its superior performance and capability to boost both concentration and recovery,” he said. This new installation will also be among the most energy-efficient and wear-resistant in its class.”
As the only company in the world that offers three types of stirred mills (the Vertimill®, the HIGTM mill, and the SMD mill), Metso Outotec claims to be unique.
