Dimapur, August 19: Metso Outotec will provide cutting-edge flotation technology as part of a concentrator modernization project for a significant nickel producer in Western Australia. The site is among the biggest nickel producers in the world.
The new flotation cells are expected to be operational in 2022. The value of the order, which is not revealed, has been booked in Minerals’ Q3/2021 orders received.
Nickel rougher and cleaner flotation technology based on new and proprietary Concorde CellTM flotation technology is included in Metso Outotec’s delivery. The Concorde CellTM uses a high-pressure aerated slurry jet through a choke to force the bubbles and particles to attach. Laureate Professor Graeme Jameson developed this technology to improve ultrafine particle flotation. This fall, Metso Outotec will introduce the Concorde CellTM technology.
