The company’s efforts are in keeping with the country’s goal of becoming a manufacturing center. In Kolkata, Gainwell Engineering will build its manufacturing headquarters. The company’s plant in Panagarh, West Bengal, would be erected on 35 acres of land at the cost of Rs. 500 crore on property purchased from the government of West Bengal. It is expected to employ more than 250 people when it is fully functioning when it opens.

In response to the agreement, Caterpillar stated they are pleased to transition the medium and high seam underground Room and Pillar equipment, as well as the aftermarket licensing, to Gainwell Engineering. Gainwell will invest in a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in India, from which it will export its goods across the world. Caterpillar and Gainwell will collaborate to ensure that the transition is as painless as possible.
