ST. STEPHEN, NEW BRUNSWICK : Galway Metals (TSXV: GWM) announced a significant expansion of its mineral footprint on Monday, reporting a 103% increase in Indicated antimony resources at its flagship Clarence Stream project. The updated National Instrument 43-101 (NI 43-101) Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) underscores the project’s transition from a primary gold play to a dual-commodity asset with critical strategic implications for the North American defense and technology sectors.
The Indicated antimony resource now stands at approximately 19,500 tonnes, more than doubling the previous 2022 estimate. Inferred antimony resources also saw a healthy uptick, rising 45% to roughly 3,100 tonnes. Alongside this critical mineral growth, the project’s total gold inventory reached 2.71 million ounces across the Indicated and Inferred categories, positioning Clarence Stream as one of the most robust undeveloped resource packages in Eastern Canada.
Antimony Resource Growth: A Breakdown of the Numbers
The July 13, 2026, update reflects intensive drilling and metallurgical optimization conducted over the past 24 months. For investors and operators, the grade profile remains a focal point; 50% of the Indicated gold ounces are situated in high-grade zones grading above 3.0 g/t Au.
| Resource Category | Tonnes (M) | Gold Grade (g/t) | Contained Gold (Moz) | Contained Antimony (Tonnes) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Indicated | 27.2 | 1.62 | 1.42 | 19,500 |
| Inferred | 28.5 | 1.40 | 1.29 | 3,100 |
| Total (Ind. + Inf.) | 55.7 | 1.51 (Avg) | 2.71 | 22,600 |

Strategic Significance: The Defense Context
Antimony is classified as a critical mineral by the United States and Canada, primarily due to its essential role in military applications, including infrared sensors, ammunition primers, and flame retardants for navy vessels. With global supply chains heavily concentrated in China and Russia, the 103% increase in Indicated antimony at Clarence Stream provides a rare domestic alternative for Western supply chains.
The project’s location in New Brunswick is advantageous for North American defense contractors looking to derisk their procurement of “army-grade” minerals. Galway Metals’ leadership noted that the antimony by-product potential materially enhances the project’s economic framework, particularly as stibnite: the primary ore for antimony: is found in high-grade clusters within the South and North Zones of the deposit.

Metallurgical Breakthroughs: The Hybrid Flowsheet
A key driver behind the resource increase is the successful testing of a hybrid Au-Sb flowsheet. In late 2025, Galway confirmed that its processing design could achieve gold extractions of 85–98% and antimony recoveries up to 84% using a combination of cyanidation and flotation.
This technical achievement allows the company to recover gold into doré bars while concentrating the remaining gold-antimony mineralization into a high-value concentrate. By treating antimony as a co-product rather than a contaminant, Galway has effectively lowered the economic cut-off grade for many zones, allowing more material to be classified as a “resource” under NI 43-101 standards.
Drilling Momentum: 40,000 Meters Active
The company is currently in the midst of a 40,000-meter drill program designed to test both depth extensions and satellite targets. Recent results from the South Deposit have already validated the “thick and continuous” nature of the mineralization.
Hole CS-417, for instance, returned 3.6 g/t Au and 0.4% Sb over 26.0 meters, including a high-grade interval of 12.4 g/t Au and 0.5% Sb over 5.0 meters. These intercepts suggest that the core of the Clarence Stream system remains open for further expansion, particularly in the South and Richard Zones where the intrusion-related system appears most robust.

2026 Outlook: Timeline and Key Risks
As Galway Metals moves toward a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS), several factors will determine the project’s velocity:
- Permitting and Environmental Impact: While New Brunswick is a mining-friendly jurisdiction, the proximity of Clarence Stream to local water systems requires rigorous environmental monitoring.
- Antimony Pricing: The project’s economics are increasingly sensitive to antimony prices. While currently elevated due to supply constraints, price volatility remains a risk.
- Gold Price Support: With 2.71 million ounces of gold, the project relies on a stable gold price above $2,100/oz to maintain the current resource’s economic viability.
The base case for Clarence Stream assumes a steady-state operation capable of producing significant gold dore and a steady stream of antimony concentrate. Under a bull-case scenario, continued exploration success at the North and South Zones could push the total gold resource toward the 3.5-million-ounce mark by 2027.

Project Implications for New Brunswick
The 103% increase in antimony resources further solidifies New Brunswick’s reputation as a critical mineral hub. As major mining operations like Mount Polley expand their tailings capacity and other explorers like Meteoric Resources report massive resource jumps in rare earths, the Atlantic Canadian mining sector is becoming a cornerstone of the Western “Green and Defense” metals strategy.
For Galway Metals, the focus for the remainder of 2026 will be the completion of the 40,000-meter program and the further de-risking of the hybrid flowsheet. Investors can expect a steady flow of assay results as the company works to convert more of its 1.29 million Inferred gold ounces into the Indicated category.
